Not that that has ever happened to me, but today definitely feels like one of those days. It’s one of those days where the sounds you hear every day of your life suddenly annoy the crap out of you. It’s one of those days where you put on your brand new dress and even though you loved it on in the store, somehow, now you hate it. It’s one of those days where every driver on the road is doing exactly the wrong thing, driving 5 miles under the speed limit or not changing lanes when you need them to. It’s one of those days where even though you are wearing waterproof mascara, everytime you look in the mirror it’s smudged under your eyes making you look like you got mugged walking from your desk to the bathroom.
But it’s also one of those days where the smallest things make you smile to yourself because everything else is just SO wrong. Like the rain that so morbidly fits your mood… it actually makes you smile when you smell it evaporating off the hot sidewalks. Or seeing the bunnies that terrorize your garden… they actually make you smile. Or eating a handful of Reese’s Pieces from your co-workers candy jar…

A Rainy Day In Pittsburgh - Photo by me
It’s just a backwards day today.
To keep up with the whole arts and crafts theme I’m supposed to be following on this blog of mine, here’s a picture of my second-ever softie that I designed for my sister-in-law Jen for this past Christmas. I absent-mindedly forgot to take pictures of it before giving it to her. She snapped these shots for me of Fitz in her wonderful new habitat.

Making this elephant was definitely a task I was not prepared for. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into and it will be a very long time before I attempt to make one like her again. So for now, she is unique, a one-of-a-kind disaster that I am ever so proud of.
Now I must go onto my backwards day. All I can do is take a deep breath and say, “Oh well.”
I’m finally getting around to putting up some pictures of little Christmas gifts I made this year. They’re small, not very complicated, but specifically made for each person in mind.
For my Aunt Laurie

For my grandma, Gammie

I think he’s a little weird looking, but my Gammie loved him and that’s all that matters.
This for my mom

Everytime she and I go shopping she has a chaotic mound of gift cards and coupons floating in her purse. We usually end up standing at the register for too long while she shuffles through the stack trying to find the appropriate coupon and gift card. With papers falling on the floor and a slight scene being made each time, I decided I needed to do something about this. I made her this gift card/coupon wallet. It’s working great for her and all of her junk fits in it perfectly. I included 2 pockets for the gift cards and 1 larger pocket for all the coupons.

Now that the holidays are over with I’m busy cleaning up all the messes I made from making those things up there. Eek.
Anyway, Happy Sunday!
Hello World,
I had an extreme case of guilt this evening because I haven’t posted in a short forever. It’s hard to force myself to sit in front of the computer when I’m not at work, even though I treasure this blogging world so much. My brother and his fiance came to town for the Steeler’s game today, so we spent most of the past 3 days with them. Yesterday we went to the National Aviary and then dined at The Georgetown Inn. We ended the evening driving through Hartwood Acres and enjoying the Celebration of Lights. It was most definitely a wonderful weekend.
Here are a few pictures documenting my family adventures.

In the middle of all this chaos, I was able to finish one stuffie for my sis-in-law, Lindi, for Christmas. Here’s a sneak-peak…

I’ve also been working for hours and hours on a drawing/painting for my brother. Over the summer we had an encounter with some peacocks and he made the oh-so-simple request of a peacock painting. He just had to pick the most intricate and detailed bird of all birds on the planet for me to draw for him. Chances are, this won’t be finished by Christmas, but I’m trying! So here’s a sneak-peak of the peacock..

Anyway, the holidays are right around the corner. I hope everyone is enjoying the festivities, the family, the friends… I know I am.
Merry Christmas!
